Privacy Notice

This notice is provided by GDK Computer Systems and Services (“Cognary”, “we”, “us”), which operates FamRelay. It covers www.famrelay.ai, the FamRelay pilot application and updates forms, and the FamRelay service that your assistant connects to at api.famrelay.ai.

What we collect

Pilot applications: your email address, optional first name, timezone, group type and size, the assistants your group uses, your answers about coordination problems and trust boundaries, and an optional value signal.
Updates sign-up: your email address.
Emails you send us: whatever you choose to include.
Website usage: which pages are visited, how visitors arrived, and a small set of events — such as which button was clicked or which demo step was reached. Your written answers, contact details and demo choices beyond fixed options are never sent to analytics tools.

The concept demo runs entirely in your browser with fictional data. Nothing you do in it is uploaded.

Cookies and analytics

On www.famrelay.ai we use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages and buttons are useful. It sets cookies in your browser (_ga and _ga_MDX7HHH58Y) that tell one visit from another; they don’t hold your name or email address. We don’t use them for advertising, and advertising features are switched off.

If your browser is set to a European timezone, we ask before anything is loaded, and nothing is set if you decline. Elsewhere, analytics is on unless you turn it off. You can change your choice at any time under Cookie settings at the bottom of any page, and we treat a Global Privacy Control signal from your browser as a “no”. Your choice is remembered in your browser.

Analytics runs on this website only. The FamRelay service at api.famrelay.ai, including its sign-in and account pages, doesn’t use Google Analytics.

The FamRelay service

When you connect an assistant and use FamRelay, we hold:

Your account: the name and email address from the Google account you sign in with. We don’t receive your Google password or anything else from your Google account.
Your connections: which assistants you’ve connected and when. Access tokens and access keys are stored only in hashed form.
Your contacts: the names and email addresses of people you save to share with.
What you share: the title, details and note of each item you approve, who it’s for and when it ends. Each item is encrypted with its own key, and that key is wrapped separately for each recipient. Items you send to your own other assistants are held and deleted in the same way.
An activity record: what you shared, changed or stopped sharing, and when a recipient’s assistant read an item.

We don’t receive your conversations or your assistant’s memory. Your assistant sends us only the item you approve; how your assistant itself handles your information is covered by its provider’s terms.

If someone shares an item with your email address before you’ve signed up, we hold that item for you, encrypted, until it expires or you sign in.

How long: a shared item is deleted after its end date, which is at most 90 days after it was sent, or sooner if the sender stops sharing it. The activity record is kept for 12 months. Sign-in sessions for a connected assistant end after 30 days without use. The service runs on Google Cloud in the United States (us-east1).

Your choices: you can stop sharing any item by asking your assistant, and see or disconnect your connected assistants at api.famrelay.ai/account. To have your FamRelay account and its data deleted, email privacy@famrelay.ai from the address you signed in with.

Shared items are never sold and never used to train AI models.

Why we use it

To deliver the items you approve to the people you chose, and show you the record of what moved.
To review applications, contact you, and schedule pilot conversations.
To learn which problems, assistants and controls matter most, so we build the right things first.
To send updates you asked for.
To keep the site secure and working.

Where the law asks us to name a legal basis for using your information, ours are:

Providing what you asked for: running the FamRelay service for you, and handling your pilot application.
Your consent: analytics cookies where we ask first, and updates you signed up for. You can withdraw it at any time.
Our legitimate interests: keeping the site and service secure, and learning what to build next, in ways that don’t override your rights.

Who we share it with

We don’t sell your information, and we don’t share it for advertising. We use one service provider, Google, which handles it on our behalf:

Google Cloud and Firebase (Google LLC, United States): hosts this website and the FamRelay service, signs you in, stores form submissions and service data, and manages encryption keys. Service data is stored in the us-east1 region.
Google Analytics (Google LLC, United States): measures website visits, as described under Cookies and analytics.
Google Fonts (Google LLC, United States): delivers the typefaces on this website. Your browser requests them from Google, which sees your IP address as it would for any web request.

When you share an item, the people you chose and the assistants they have connected can read it. We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or if FamRelay is transferred to another company, in which case this notice continues to apply to it.

We’re based in the United States and your information is processed there. If you’re elsewhere, that means it leaves your country.

How long we keep it

Pilot applications are kept for 12 months from when you apply, then deleted automatically — or sooner if you ask. Updates sign-ups are kept until you unsubscribe. Form submissions are stored with Google Cloud in the United States (us-east1). Website analytics data is kept for up to 14 months. Retention for the FamRelay service is described above.

Your choices and rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, or withdraw from the pilot or updates at any time. Email privacy@famrelay.ai and we’ll reply within 30 days. We may ask you to confirm the request from the email address it concerns. We won’t treat you differently for making one.

In the United States: depending on your state, you may have the right to know what we hold about you, get a copy, correct it, delete it, and opt out of its sale or use for targeted advertising. We do neither. If we decline a request, you can reply to ask us to reconsider, and you can contact your state’s attorney general.
In the EU, the UK or Switzerland: you can ask for access, correction, deletion, a portable copy, or a limit on how we use your information; object to uses based on our legitimate interests; and withdraw consent at any time. You can also complain to your local data protection authority, which in the UK is the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Children

The website, the pilot and the service are for adults. Please don’t include children’s sensitive information in your application.

Changes

If we change this notice in a meaningful way, we’ll update the effective date and, where appropriate, tell people who have applied.
